Merry Merry Christmas

We wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas, we wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

I love Christmas....the taste and smells...family and friends...but most of all to celebrate Jesus.

Our girls love to decorate a tree in their rooms ever year. Olivia's tree this year is dressed in candy and traditional reds and greens. Savanah's tree is in a non-traditional pink and Paris theme. Christmas is wonderful...don't you think.

Our Trip to Singapore

Putting the house on hold for a few weeks. And taking the time to spend some time with the man that I love.

I was able to travel with Wasey to Singapore this time when it was time for him to head back to work. I have relly enjoyed being here with him and seeing things that I never thought I would every get to see in my life. I guess you could say, I never even really thought about leaving the United States. Sure, I would say things like, "I would love to travel" but actually do it. Just not something I thought would ever really happen.

Meeting the people that he works with has been very nice. Everyone is so nice and have made me feel comfortable. The people of Singapore are really nice and helpful.

I am very glad to have gone on this adventure.

Siblings

As you know we have 4 girls and 1 boy...they have all fought and made up through the years. We still have 2 girls at home and they have fought all their lives. I mean from the time the last one was born it seems. We try and try to make them stop...we have given them a guilt trip, sent them to their rooms, grounded them, taken things from them and it just does not matter. But, the trip to Galveston was amazing. They did not fuss or fight the whole trip. They hung out together and walked the beach together. Amazing. I was a proud mother indeed. We are back home now and they are still getting along. I better watch what I write...it might be a good thing the words are only coming out of my mind and not my mouth. I love my kids and we just want them to have great family values. Someday, they are all they are going to have. As much as you hate to think that way, it is true. One of these days I am not going to be here. And they will have each other to lean on. Our family is close...with the small arguments we do have they do tend to get over them fairly quick and they do get on with life and loving each other. Being a family is not an option.

Oh...No!!! We found the unwanted....

The things you find when you are renovating...the unwanted mold and mildew...now we will take on the nasty unwanted intruder........

The good thing is the wood on the wall seems to be undamaged......but the section of base board is going to need to be replaced.......

Not bad though......what do you expect in an old house......

Surprises......

Some surprises are good and some are not so good.....we deal with them and move on to the next exciting experience.

PS: We found the Kittens and the girls are thrilled.......all five of them are safe and sound.

They did have a little adventure.......the trip to school to pick up Savanah.

The Kittens

A few weeks ago our cat had kittens, 4 boys and 1 girl. They are so cute and cuddly.

This morning when I took my girls to school they were all just fine, playing and eating.

When I came home from taking the girls to school they were just fine, playing and eating.

When I went outside to feed our momma cat, Bob. There was only 1 kitten.

Sad.

I have been looking all over the place for those poor little kittens...with no luck.

Savanah is our cat lover, she is going be to so sad. Olivia also likes them, she had give them names. She will be hurt as well. They were so very cute.

I am not really a cat lover or a dog lover, although we do have Max our Yorkshire Terrier, I do love him and if anything happened to him I would lose a bed partner. Besides Max and Bob, we have Fatty our boy cat, the cats live outside and Max lives inside. Just because I am not a cat or dog lover doesn't mean I would ever wish anything bad to happen to them. I was going to give them to a loving home.

I think a hawk might have taken them.

GRRRRRR!!!!! Hawks are just awful.

I am so sad for those little bitty kittens. They didn't have a chance if the hawk has taken them. Now, Bob is wondering around out there looking for her little bitty kittens.

I am going to look for the kittens again.

Where could they be??????

Please, don't be so sad Savanah and Olivia, I will love your hurt away.

One Room Down

Wonderful walls....

Vintage wallpaper...

This weekend has been full of little projects but this is the greatest of them. We didn't go to Matagorda like we had planned because of the weather. It was just a little nasty for a trip. So, the girls and I kept ourselves busy, busy, busy. We decided to take down some SHEETROCK!!!!!

We did get to save a piece of the wallpaper and we are going to try to frame it...memories of good times shared with no fighting. If you have teenage girls you know what I mean.

This was a challenge for Olivia, things like this still hurt her back. (She had a car accident in December of 2009). So, after all of this work she had to rest and that is not fun for her.

I think the walls are awesome. They did a great job. Trying their hardest not to rip the wallpaper so we could save a good piece. The room is going to look amazing when we complete the job. LOL!!!! "Complete the job"...I am thinking it will never really be completed.

Do you ever really complete decorating. Not me. I am always changing, rearranging, adding....you know what I mean.

I love decorating and doing projects with my kids. They have fun learning how to do things that I love, even my son. He thinks I can do wonders when it comes to making a house a home, I am not sure what makes him think that. I think he just likes to make me feel good about the things I do for our family. He is silly.

I have started on Olivia's room now and I will try to finish and post something about it tomorrow. Or the next day. It did take us two days to complete the sheetrock tear down in Savanah's room. Well, I better get going.

Have a wonderfully fabulous day.

This Weeks Projects

This weeks projects did not go as planned. I have started...oh...3 simple projects (simple for someone who knows what they are doing) (LOL!!!!!)...like I said they HAVE NOT gone as planned.

Have you ever had one of those weeks?

Please, tell me I am not alone.

You have good intentions and things just go south.

Well, that's what happened.

I started my blog
....and....
I am not sure if I am doing anything right, I now have a code of some sort and it is stuck.
I will attempt to settle that later.

Since the blog seems to have a mind of its own............

I then decided to start another project...painting an end table.

I have been wanting to create this wonderful "Shabby Chic" room for my 13 year old daughter, and in my minds eye (which always plays tricks on me) it is so sweet and very pretty.
Vintage, HA.
Well, apparently I need to remove some black paint before I move on to the next color.....

Moving on to the next SIMPLE project......

I then attempted to paint a little lamp for the up coming granddaughter and broke a piece that holds it together, I need that part, SO, I will make a trip to Walmart or Lowe's.

Now, I am planning another project and it consist of a bottle and a glass.

LOL ; )

No worries. All will be completed in due time. They will all make their debut with style.

Hahahaha!!!

Have a wonderfully fabulous weekend.

My First Blog

Okay...Here goes my first blog. I am new at all of this blogging. I have seen some really great blogs and decided to take a little time and start a blog of my very own. I want to start by congratulating those of you who know and understand all of the blog lingo. I know I will get the hang of it...but...it will definitely take some time.

My husband and I have purchased a 1940's frame home in a little town in Texas called Tarkington, it is very small, but we like it. We are wanting to renovate. Oh...did I really say that out loud. Yes, renovating is very challenging to say the least. We have started removing the drywall...remember I did mention the "challenge thing". But, beneath the drywall there is this wonderful vintage wallpaper. We have salvaged some of the wallpaper to frame and hopefully start creating a story of "A Vintage Home In Progress". Now, beneath the vintage wallpaper is some really nice 1"x 6", tongue and grove walls. We have fallen in love with this little old house all over again.

Our home reminds us of the good ole days. When we visited our grandparents with the windows open and that old screen door slamming as we ran in and out. Love. We loved our grandparents home in the summertime. Barefoot on a warm day and front porch swings squeaking back and forth, warm breezes blowing with the sweet smell of honeysuckle, grandma cooking chicken and dumplings while the birds are singing and the bees are buzzing. Summertime. What's not to love. These are the things we want our kids and grand kids to know and love. Things of the past that many of the kids today have missed out on.

So....the whole reason behind this blog is our house becoming a vintage home. I am sure there will be other things that I will post...kids, grand kids, parents, pets....who knows where it will go. I hope you enjoy reading and share ideas because God knows I will need them. And maybe...just maybe we can become friends along the way.
